Father’s Day Gifting Guide

This Father’s Day, gift your Dad some cleaner products. All of these options perform as well as conventional according to my husband, and he has sensitive skin and is picky! He is my biggest supporter and is also involved in some of my research. I’m so glad he has been willing to try different things over the years and that we have been able to swap out every product he uses for something safe. He is also the best Dad to our children, I couldn’t have wished for better!

So if you are searching for some alternatives for your sweet Dad here is a good place to start.

Facial Care

• Shaving Cream/gel: Ursa Major Stellar shaving cream – hubby says this is as good as or better than other shaving creams and he tried a few. It is also toxin free, and for something he slathers on his face every day, it’s such a great option! You can find this on Amazon or directly from Ursa Major website.
• Beard Oil: Olie Whisker Oil – this has some fantastic ingredients in it like pumpkin seed oil which is high in essential fatty acids, borage oil which is soothing and heals razor burns, aloe oil is amazing in that it heals skin and is the best remedy for burns found in nature, and many others. This oil nourishes beard hairs making it softer and not as ‘prickly’ and helps it lay down and behave nice. It also helps to nourish dry itchy skin that can often affect hair growth areas. My husband uses it as a prep for shaving, but says he cannot use it instead of a shaving cream to actually shave. But it helps to make his shaves smoother, with less nicks or razor burns and helps to tame his beard! He does a half shave, half beard face thing going on! You can find this one on Amazon too, it’s a great price point.
• Cleanser: Crunchi Charcoal or Gentle Facial Bar – yes these facial bars are for the the guys too, and since my sweet man has been using the Charcoal facial bar, he has noticed all his acne problem areas clearing up in just a few days! If your Dad or man in your life has more sensitive or dry skin, the Gentle bar would be amazing for facial cleansing for them. The Charcoal bar has tea tree essential oil and lemon essential oil so it doesn’t smell ‘girly’, and the Gentle bar has no essential oils or scent of any kind, other than the natural smell of the bar ingredients. Both of these bars are very effective cleansers, and they do not leave your skin feeling dry and stripped of moisture. Instead they are formulated with moisturizing ingredients that puts some love back into your very clean skin! For more detailed info on these facial bars, check out my post.
• Moisturizer: Crunchi Daylight – again this isn’t just for girls, it is very hydrating and helpful in men’s skincare too! It’s a great after shave lotion or moisturizer for any day. It has a sweet scent of orange and that’s all! You can find it here. Another great option is some facial oils, I often make my own, but I have purchased one that works great for the hubs as I didn’t like the cumin seed oil in it for myself. It is by Puristry called the Restorative Facial Oil, and has a neutral scent, though I get a strong smell of the cumin seed oil and feel like I have a taco on my face! LOL So I gave this one to the hubs and he doesn’t mind the smell at all. I don’t recommend this brand as a whole as they use an ingredient in many of their other products that I choose not to use, Japanese Honeysuckle extract (known to mimic parabens in the body). But this facial oil does not include that ingredient, or any others that would be a concern. You can find it here.
  

Shower Care

• Body Wash: Crunchi Charcoal Body Bar – this is the newest release (releases to the public June 11, 2019) and in perfect time for father’s day! It is non-drying, very moisturizing, plus exfoliating with the addition of physical ground Jojoba seeds to help slough off dead skin cells and promote cell renewal. It is scented with tea tree and sweet orange essential oil giving it a lovely citrusy smell, invigorating for early morning wake up shower needs! • Toothpaste: – Dr Brite Mint Whitening (or any flavors!) – we all LOVE this brand and the mission of cleaning up the junk in toothpaste that we are swallowing! Our whole family uses this and the flavors are so fun. It also does a great job at whitening, so if your Dad or man in your life is a coffee and tea drinker, this could be for him! • Dry skin: LIVE Botanical Fleur de Terre Skin Repair Balm – my sweet husband gets very dry skin patches in the winter, and this balm is super nourishing and healing. We use it instead of neosporin on cuts and bruises too. If he’s been working outside and getting callouses it helps to soften and heal that toughened, try and cracking skin.

Hair Care

• Shampoo and Conditioner: Innersense Hydrating Cream Hairbath and Conditioner – My sweet man has suffered with dandruff and itchy, flaky scalp for the whole time I’ve known him and always felt he had to use a medicated, dandruff shampoo to combat this. But recently we tried this brand for him, I was already using their color safe shampoo and conditioner, and we have literally been SHOCKED that after just 2 washes his dandruff has gone and it has stayed gone too for over a week now!! Can’t sing the praises of this high enough! No more toxic dandruff shampoo for him, he is finally rid of it and his scalp is looking the healthiest it has ever looked. Once again, cleaning up your products from the toxic laden ones is healing and helping!
• Hair Pomade: Yarok Feed Your Do – this has been a great alternative to my husband’s conventional hair pomade. He likes that is doesn’t leave his hair looking stiff and crunchy, or wet-slick. Instead it drys very naturally but still gives him all the hold he needs for his ‘swoosh’ as his hairstyle is lovingly known as in our house! LOL Love this brand too and that I can get it on Amazon!
