UPDATE August 23, 2022: Crunchi has since reformulated this product and is now called Luminescence® Highlighter. They also just have one ‘universal’ color called Glow. It is very smooth and silky and very pigmented. I’m trying to update my older posts with the new formulas so thanks for the patience. In the mean time, you can check out the new highlighter here!

A couple years ago I was introduced to this wonderful cosmetic products called highlighter. Only needing a small amount, you swipe it on the high-points of your face and voila, you have a gorgeous glow! I fell in LOVE, folks, and found myself not being able to complete my makeup routine without swiping this gorgeous luminescence on my face. So when I heard that Crunchi was developing a highlighter, I was so over-the-moon excited. And when they released it, well, understatement, I was not disappointed.
“So why do I need highlighter?” I hear you say. I mean we totally do not want to look like we are shiny and greasy. But that’s not the point of highlighter. When used in all the right places, highlighter can give the appearance of more youthful skin. It provides a ‘lit-from-within’ glow, giving the appearance of plump and healthy skin, whereas very powdery and heavy makeup is definitely an automatic aging look. Not what anyone I know of is really going for.
“So who can use highlighter?” you ask. ANYONE! Yes you heard me, anyone can use it, and should use it, if you are wanting to promote youthful, healthy skin. You will look awake and alert and just, well, glowing. Plus a little goes a long way, please do not cover every inch of your face in it…you will be guaranteed to look ridiculous!
Ok then the question becomes how to use it. I will post a handy dandy picture that Crunchi has lovingly provided with instructions for precise placement. Good rule to remember is you are going for high points on the face: top of cheek bones (not too close to your eye, though), down the center of your nose, cupid’s bow (top of your top lip), center of chin, under eyebrows to lift eyes, and in the corner tear duct of the eyes to make you appear brighter and more awake. Also I like to do the center of my eyelid to catch the light every time I look up and down and draws attention to the eyes.
Crunchi has launched two shades of highligher, Lit and Afterglow, and also a new highlighter brush No.5. The shade Lit is more pearlescent on the cooler end of the color spectrum, recommended for fair to medium skin tones. Afterglow has a golden hue to it more on the warm side, and is recommended for medium to darker, deeper skin tones. But another rule of thumb to know which would look best on you, is to figure out if gold or silver jewelry compliments your skin tone best, and swing toward that same undertone in your highlighter. Plus do not apply highlighter with your fingers, you will more than likely apply too much, with the exception of the inner tear duct corner and center of your eye. Use a good quality light brush, like our gorgeous No. 5 brush that is perfectly designed for accurate application.
What makes Crunchi Highlighter so much better than conventional highlighters? Well, for one we do not add talc to any of our products, and highlighter is a product that conventional makeup companies usually add talc to. The concern with talc is that it is always found next to asbestos when it is mined from the ground. It is very hard to guarantee that any talc is not tainted with asbestos, and frankly there are plenty of other ingredients you can use instead of talc, but most companies are going with the cheapest option so they can make more money. Talc has also been found to be a toxin to women’s reproductive systems. Definitely steer clear of talc in your products if at all possible!
Also, Crunchi adds very nourishing and skin loving ingredients such as olive, jojoba, and Vit E oil (non GMO), plus there is silica amorphous in here too, which is super skin loving and healing, and helps to absorb oil through the day. This pressed highlighter is so smooth and creamy in it’s feel and applies effortlessly for a gorgeous glow that will last you all day!
