Ok, so I have not ever really been impressed by facial soap bars in the past, most have always left me feeling very tight and dry, even though I have oily type skin. So when I heard Crunchi was working on a facial bar I was totally not excited. But of course when they offered them to us Advocates to purchase early, I jumped at the chance simply because I’ve learned by now that Crunchi doesn’t do things by halves. I figured some magic and fabulousness was lurking in these bars and I needed first hand experience!
So when these bars arrived, I opened up the charcoal one as it is formulated for my skin type. It smells so fresh and clean, with the lemon and tea tree essential oils, I was immediately impressed with the scent. I lathered it up in my hands under the water and proceeded to slather the lather on my face. Umm, WOW! I could not believe how creamy this facial bar felt, it was so luxurious to wash with, I just kept massaging it all over my face. And after I felt I had cleansed well, and then some, I then rinsed it all off with warm water and patted my face dry. WOW, again! No tightness, I repeat NO tightness on my face! It felt fresh, cleansed, and dry but not stripped of all my natural face oils! WHAT??? Get out of town!! #crunchiforthewin
So what makes these little beauties so miraculous? So glad you asked! 😉

RSPO Certified
Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is an organization dedicated to harvesting palm oil with sustainable practices, and helping to keep jobs for families who rely on this form of occupation. You can learn more at there website https://rspo.org. After much research, Crunchi learned that using sustainable palm oil was actually the least disruptive to deforestation than any other form of vegetable oil production. And partnering with RSPO we can help to promote sustainable palm and jobs for impoverished families. It’s a beautiful story!
Sodium Hydroxide
Sodium Hydroxide, also known as lye, is a necessary ingredient to make soaps, or in this case FACIAL BARS! 😉 On it’s own, sodium hydroxide is very caustic, you definitely do not want to get it on your skin, and it is poisonous to ingest. If you plan on making soap yourself, please use caution and follow instructions on safety protocols for using this substance. But the cool science behind all this is that when sodium hydroxide beads or flakes are added to any oils or fats, it causes a chemical reaction called saponification. This basically means it makes the hard soap bars we know and use. Once the chemical reaction has occured, the sodium hydroxide is not the same component and if done properly with the right amount of both oils and sodium hydroxide, there should be none remaining in the finished soap. In Crunchi facial bars they have guaranteed there is NO sodium hydroxide left in the finished product. That is not something that every company can boast, so always do your research and check ingredients out. Even some of our competitors in the green beauty world cannot claim this, as always, read your labels sweet friends! This is also the safest form of any cleanser, and has been used for centuries, dating back to Babylonia times, around 2300 B.C. Geeking out over here!
Both facial bars will be released for sale to the public Tuesday, May 21, 2019!
STORAGE
Store your facial bars on a stainless steel, ceramic, marble, or bamboo soap dish with drain holes. Never store your bars in the path of running water, or let them sit in pools of water as this will degrade the facial bars faster. I use a stainless steel soap dish from Amazon and here is the handy link https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075TKQ459/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. When needing to travel, I love using my Stasher silicon zip-top bags, or you can use a cloth drawstring bag to keep the bar from getting wet or damaged.
Crunchi is also in the process of having these facial bars certified organic, they are just waiting on the paperwork, and all the red-tape that comes with that. So exciting! I love using clean soaps…I know it’s such a bad pun! Let me know in the comments if you have any questions about anything, and also if you try them what you think!
Blessings,
I have really dry skin and I stopped using soap on my face a while back because I didn’t like how it felt afterwards. I’ve been trying the Crunchi Gentle Facial Bar for almost a month and I really like it. My face feels softer after I use it. It has actually helped with my dryness. I only have to use a little each time and can tell the a bar would last a long time.
That is SUCH great feedback, thank you! It helps to have someone with different skin to mine be able to speak to a products performance!
