Clean Beauty Skincare

Skincare has always been a challenge for me beginning with the first blemish in my teens. I tried all the toxic stuff (ahem Proactive!) which promised great results but left me in pain, still had blemishes, and I developed dry, flaking skin from the harsh ingredients. UGH! It was not pretty. I kept hoping as I got older my skin would clear up, but that did not happen. I tried ALL THE THINGS with no positive results. I have since learned some of those ingredients are irritating to skin, can cause allergic reactions, and are linked to health issues like endocrine disruption and cancers. No thank you! So the hunt began for safer ingredients that actually worked for me.

I began using a few safer options a number of years ago when I became aware of problematic ingredients in skincare, but I struggled to find a moisturizer that did not cause me to break out in blemishes, plus provide a good balance of moisture without leave me greasy. I switched to oil cleansing, which made a huge difference in clearing my skin. I wasn’t really seeing great results from just those oils alone, though I love a great facial oil. So when Crunchi released their Daylight and Nightlight moisturizers, I didn’t think they would work for me. Boy was I wrong!

What I love the most about the skincare line with Crunchi is that they not only use safe ingredients, but their ingredients are nutrient dense plus organic! So I feel I’m actually getting something great instead of a lot of petroleum based ingredients found in a most conventional skincare products. I also love that Crunchi products are all made in the USA, which is awesome. But so important for me, the whole skincare line has done wonders for my skin! No breakouts, no blemishes, but instead I’ve seen a ton of improvement in my overall tone, pores are smaller (hello Clarilight!), my oil production is more controlled (thank you charcoal facial bar), and my face is hydrated, moisturized, and protected with amazing ingredients! PLUS the new Powerlight Eye Cream is a huge game changer for my under-eye area now that I’m in my 40’s! Just check out my before and after using Crunchi skincare!

Hibiscus Flower Acid – Skin Benefits

This beautiful flower has been known for years for it’s health properties in food and teas, but that is not where the benefits stop. The hibiscus flower has amazing properties for improved skin health too!

Let’s take a look:

~Hisbiscus is a natural form of alpha hydroxy acids or AHAs. These are known to exfoliate dead skin cells, clear out dirt and old sebum from pores, and brighten the appearance of the skin.

~Other AHAs are known to make the skin thinner and more susceptible to damage from the sun and pollution. Hisbiscus AHAs are different in that they actually help the skin to repair the damage from these sources.

~Hibiscus acid has anti-aging benefits by helping to preserve the elastin in our skin which usually diminishes with aging. Thus it improves the appearance of the firmness of your skin.

~Hibiscus acid contains Vit. C, an amazing anti-oxidant that helps repair, rejuvenate and protect from environmental stressors, while calming skin irritation from those stressors.

~Hibiscus acid contains mucilage, a thick, sticky subtance similar to aloe, that can help improve skin’s moisture and provide a barrier.

If AHAs have caused you trouble in the past, you may be able to safely switch to Nightlight since the Hibiscus AHAs do not have the harsh side effects of many other forms, but still all the benefits!
